Coming down from her stunning third album Highway Queen (2017) Nikki Lane is currently tracking songs for her third release with New West Records (projected for early 2020), a ten year encompassment of her lessons learned throughout her time calling Nashville, Tennessee her home and while developing her craft as a songwriter. Late 2010, she moved to East Nashville and began her songwriting career in tandem with opening her store High Class Hillbilly, a vintage clothing boutique serving up souvenirs from her travels from the road. Like a true Libra, she loves the balancing act, so much in fact, she and partner Jonathan Tyler have spent the last year living behind a roadhouse in South Austin – Sam’s Town Point. Lane said of her time there, “Just being able to play a game of pool at Sam’s while watching their nightly roster, has drawn me closer towards my Country roots and opened my eyes to the Austin Rock scene.” Lane and Tyler host an annual party “Where Is The Hideout?” curating a refuge and safe haven from Austin’s busy SXSW which has featured acts including Tony Joe White, Justin Townes Earle, Ray Wylie Hubbard and more.
Lane’s sound crisscrosses musical genres with ease, while the lonesome romantic in her remains. Blending potent lyrics, unbridled blues guitars and vintage Sixties country-pop swagger, Lane’s new music will resonate as easily with Lana Del Rey and Jenny Lewis fans as those of Neil Young and Tom Petty. Lane looks forward to her annual return to Europe alongside her Nashville band for the travels.

“[Lane’s] breed of country is as futuristic as it is Seventies outlaw, probably because she’s more intent on invention than emulation.” – Rolling Stone Country
